Standard II - Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments

A trek in

discovery...

Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the Standards

  • Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.

  • Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.

  • Customize and personalize learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.

  • Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards, and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.

My Reflection

This standard requires showing the design and development digital age learning experiences an assessments through my work. Learning experiences and assessments are an important part of teaching and learning and I feel the program at USM has prepared me in creating these for students. The above artifacts include:

(1) A wequest for the subject of cybercheating. This webquest shows the design and adaptation of relevant learning experiences with digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. I feel this was a unique way to have students explore and become active participants in their learning. This webquest can be customized to address students’ diverse learning styles and different ability levels using digital tools and resources.

(2) A video created on Edpuzzle teaching the student the ADDIE model. The video shows multiple and varied assessments being utilized. The formative assessments are incorporated within the video giving the educator another way to assess the student. This video also shows my ability to design relevant learning experiences with the use of digital technology via YouTube and voice-over software using my voice.

(3) An animation video using Animaker. This animation video teaches the student digital terms. This video promotes student learning and creativity, along with providing learning experiences that incorporate digital tools.

My Future Learning Goal

In the future, I would like to design multiple and varied assessment for my courses. We are still using paper tests as the only formal formative and summative assessments and feel technology can better assist. More up-to-date, technology-driven formative and summative assessments are my future goals for my courses. I would also like to incorporate anti-cheating technology in my online courses, as well and learn more in that area. This would help ease the concerns I have in cybercheating being an issue.
